Speaker: Shiba Khan                    |                      Time: 2:00 - 3:00pm

Concept of the Workshop: Rhythm refers to the movement or the visual flow within a certain piece. It is sometimes also referred to as a tempo or a beat created that invites the eye to enter the journey of the artist’s soul displayed on the canvas, or to help the eye travel and reach its point of focus. Like in music, the rhythm in the art can vary in its speed. There are certain compositions that seem more static, calmer, and more relaxed, producing the feeling of peace, order, and structure, while on the other hand, certain works produce a sense of chaos, disorder, and loss of balance that most of us would link to the inner expressions of the artists’ soul. In a painting, rhythm exists in a more subjective way, in the viewer's experience of the patterns, colors and shapes of the work, and in the emphasis of points of interest in the image using devices of perspective, contrast and texture.

Learning from the workshop: Find and develop your own unique expressive marks and painting vocabulary in this abstract acrylic painting workshop.  Learn about a variety of painting and drawing tools, both conventional and unconventional, discover your own signature style and how to communicate through them in your work.  Create depth by layering and texturing with paint.  Learn how to use strokes to energize your work with contrast and value.  You will be working on canvas with acrylic paint and different kinds of painting tools like palette knives, brushes, textured mediums, soft pastels etc.  This workshop is designed for participants to take risks and loosen up while developing and strengthening their abstract painting skills, creative intelligence, and their own authentic voice, thus enhancing their art.

Concepts of workshop: Pictorial impressions are everlasting memories for us all and when these impressions get transferred to the canvas, the process becomes therapeutic.

This workshop is designed while considering how people think that drawing and painting isn't everyone's cup of tea. This small experiment can open a window of hope for anyone while realizing that imagination becomes a powerful tool and painting is so easy!

Learning from the workshop: We shall encourage participants to create something with no fear and experiment with free-flowing colors and accidental shapes while helping them to improve their imagination power. This will become a milestone of their journey of art which will help them to reach their creative goals!

To help the participants to understand the basics of creative painting and how important it is to take the support of art as a therapy which helps you to align the emotional, mental, and spiritual centers while balancing your roles on your personal and professional fronts.
